Adam Audio H715 Reference – Open-Back Headphones for Mixing and Mastering

The H715 Reference is ADAM Audio’s flagship open-back headphone, designed as a genuine alternative to a full-range monitor system in a treated room. 40 mm titanium-plated PEN drivers, a dedicated balanced Hi-Fi mode and calibration software built with Sonnox make it the top step of the ADAM headphone range at Soundium.

Key Features

  • 40 mm titanium-plated PEN drivers: 150 Ω transducers with neodymium magnets, tuned suspension and a patent-pending ventilation system
  • Wide, clean response: 9 Hz – 40 kHz (-3 dB), up to 113 dB SPL with under 0.05% THD at 100 dB SPL
  • Dedicated Hi-Fi mode: Activated with the included metal pin for true balanced audio from differential amplifiers
  • Software by Sonnox: The Headphone Utility Plug-In and ListenHub add system-wide calibration plus metering, referencing and imaging tools
  • Dual-sided connectivity: Connect the cable on the left or right ear cup, or double-entry with a balanced cable
  • Built for long sessions: Spring steel headband, rotatable and magnetically detachable ear cups, memory foam padding, around 300 g

Customer Benefits

Headphone mixes often fail to translate because the headphone itself colours the picture. The H715 Reference starts from a wide, low-distortion response from 9 Hz to 40 kHz, so low end and top end are both visible when you make decisions. The Sonnox-built Headphone Utility Plug-In sits on your DAW’s master or monitoring channel, while ListenHub brings calibration, metering and A/B referencing to the whole system. The open-back design keeps long mixing and mastering sessions natural, and the replaceable ear pads, headband pad and detachable cables keep the headphone in service for years.

  • Producers checking mixes away from their main monitoring
  • Critical Hi-Fi listening from a balanced headphone amplifier

Compatibility

The Headphone Utility Plug-In runs on the master or monitoring channel of your DAW; ListenHub by Sonnox works system-wide. Hi-Fi mode is intended for balanced headphone amplifiers with differential outputs.

Pros and Cons

✅ Pros:

  • Very wide 9 Hz – 40 kHz response with low distortion
  • Calibration and referencing software from Sonnox included
  • Replaceable pads, headband pad and cables for long service life

⚠️ Cons:

  • Open-back design leaks sound, so it is not suited to tracking or noisy rooms
  • 150 Ω load benefits from a capable headphone amplifier

If you already trust ADAM monitors, the H715 Reference carries the same idea of accurate translation over to headphones, with the software to back it up. You will find it at Soundium alongside the closed-back H200, with expert advice on choosing the right ADAM setup.
